April 2016 – FHANA has taken action to rescind the board vote that took place in Nov/Dec 2015. The board vote was controversial, as the issue (B-Book II registration process) had been decided by a membership vote several years ago. Members believed that it was inappropriate for the Board to take a unilateral vote without member input. Their actions in Nov/Dec resulted in members (on both sides of the BBII issue) showing their displeasure by voicing their opinions on social media, through letter writing campaigns, a petition sent to FHANA, and making speeches and statements at the FHANA AGM in Fort Worth, Texas in March 2016.
The FHANA Board heard their members and took action. The following statement is on the FHANA website. Thank you to the Board for hearing their members and responding by rescinding the B-Book II board decision.
“Action taken in November and December 2015 to openly facilitate registration of B Book II horses was rescinded. Applicable rules will be changed, and no additional applications will be accepted in the FHANA office postmarked later than April 30, 2016”.
